Board Member, Mission to Seafarers Halifax
Hussam Labib brings over 23 years of experience in the Oil & Gas, Maritime Shipping, and Ground Fishing industries. He is the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager for Ocean Choice International, where he leads initiatives to ensure safety compliance, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence across a diverse fleet and processing facilities.
He holds a Master of Maritime Management from Memorial University, and a Bachelor of Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture from Alexandria University. Hussam is also a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), underscoring his commitment to the highest standards of workplace safety and risk management.
Throughout his career, Hussam has held leadership roles in international shipyards, offshore oil and gas projects, and maritime operations. His expertise includes safety systems development, regulatory compliance, audits, and training programs, with a strong record of improving safety culture and organizational performance.
As Treasurer of Mission to Seafarers Canada, Hussam applies his financial and leadership expertise to ensure sound governance and accountability. His passion for seafarer welfare stems from his extensive maritime background and global industry experience.
Fluent in English and Arabic, Hussam is dedicated to advancing the organization’s mission of providing practical, emotional, and spiritual support to seafarers and their families, while fostering a safer, more resilient maritime community.
